On Saturday 9/27, we were fortunate enough to have Patty Saotome Shihan come in to teach the morning class! It was a wonderful opportunity to learn more on aspects of atemi, lines in body structure, and strength within grace as they should be applied in Aikido techniques. We hope to continue to provide an environment that inspires these amazing instructors to keep coming to teach at our dojo!
Saturday morning (9/20), Saotome Shihan will be teaching class @ 10 AM. Saotome Shihan is a world renowned martial arts master and one of the last surviving uchideshi (personal live-in students) of O'Sensei. We are very fortunate to have him here in Sarasota and teaching at 12th Street Dojo. All are welcomed to attend, please place your $10 mat fee in the box with your name on it. This applies to active dojo memebrs as well. See you there!
On August 17, 2014 Scott Ellis (a dojo member and instructor) tested for his 2nd degree black belt in Aikido at the Florida Shihan Seminar held at Shindai Aikikai. He passed with high marks and was an excellent representation of the dojo! Congrats Scott, we are all proud of you and your continued dedication to improving your skills as a martial artist!
